Come sail with me….the best is yet to be

October 20, 2024

Woke up early this morning, had a good breakfast and left for the archeological park of Siracusa.

What a difference a day makes….sunshine and 72 degrees!

It’s a beautiful morning but the volcano, Mount Etna, is snow capped!

How old do you think this magnolia tree is? Look at the roots in the second picture.

The archeological park was beautiful…but it was hot and we were hungry. So we decided to visit an island off of Siracusa, accessible by two short bridges, called Ortigia. The island is surrounded by a great wall which starts at the port.

Walking along, we became swallowed up by a Sunday market full of people, colors and aromas!

At the market we bought straw hats and then went to lunch.

After lunch, we begin to walk on the wall overlooking the sea.

These beachgoers like it rough!

On the other hand, these people like to just sunbathe and sip Prosecco!

It’s been a day full of sunlight, discovery, sea spray…. and a lot of walking!
