This morning, I woke up to the sound of rainfall .. strong rainfall
We proceeded to check out the boat with the charter personnel and disembarked this morning at 9:30 a.m. The driver came to take us to Catania Airport to pick up our rental car. It should have taken an hour and fifteen minutes to get there. However, it took more than two hours because we had to drive through significant rainfall and the drive was slower than it should have been.
Our plan was to visit Catania and stay at a hotel located in the center of the city on Via Etnea 3. This is what Via Etnea looked like 3 hours before we got there:

Therefore, Catania was not an option. We headed for Siracusa…a little further south along the Sicilian coast.
Once in Siracusa, we went looking for a place to stay. On the outskirts of Siracusa we found the Addauro Resort….this lovely BnB with beautiful plants and an inviting pool!
But as I was contemplating taking a dip in that inviting pool, the weather got in the way.

Tonight, we stayed in our room and made ambitious plans to visit many sites. Hopefully the weather cooperates!
Obviously, much of the historic center of Catania was flooded along with our hotel! Catania therefore was out of the question. We decided to go further down the coast to Siracusa.
