Welcome to Alicudi, the farthest and last island on our trip.
On the way to Alicudi (with laundry hanging off the stern!)

As soon as we pulled up the dinghy, ready to go ashore, a dragon fly landed on Claudio’s hand. We believe he was tired and placed himself on the first thing he could find!

Claudio is contemplating the little dragon fly. Between the cat on Salina and the dragon fly in Alicudi, I’m wondering if Claudio is related to St. Francis of Assisi somehow! LOL

And there were the mules too.

Speaking of which, I’ve been told that the only way up the mountain is the mule because there are no paved roads!

Scenes from Alicudi

Some houses are built right into the lava rock.

Artesian well still in use

I needed to visit the little market, I think the only market on the island, I needed bread and wine. The shop owner told me that the ferry had not brought enough bread today, so she had none. As far as the wine was concerned, she only had a couple of bottles of the white wine her grandfather still makes…her grandfather, by the way, that started the market in 1930 as the sign shows. Oh…and did I tell you the wine was delicious?!

And because I had to do shopping, and the dinghy was on the other side of town, Claudio came to pick me up from the market…like an Uber would… except on water!
