Today we are taking possession of the boat and having our briefing…but not until 18:00 hours. Therefore, we again woke up late, took a shower and checked out of our hotel room. After some further exploration of the area, we were told of a little place whose spaghetti and clam sauce are so good foodies come from far away to eat it! That’s all I had to hear!

And then Claudio ordered a slice of Cassata Siciliana….a decadent dessert of Sicily with fragrances of almond and candied fruits tied together with a creamy ricotta filling……Flori is very happy.
Sometime later, we finally got the call that the boat was ready for inspection.
The vessel we selected is a 45′ Beneteau mono hull. It is a typical French, mass produced sailboat. It is made inexpensively but it offers a lot of interior and cockpit space…and it sails fairly well. They are designed to be used as charter vessels, and they are comfortable boats.

After being briefed on all the boat systems, charter rules and local maritime laws, we finally got our food delivery. There is a local supermarket on premises that is well furnished. Yesterday I shopped for all the things I think I’ll need for at least the first week of cruising, and they kept it for me overnight and refrigerated those things that needed to stay cold. Today, when we were ready, the marina office called them to deliver the groceries to the boat.

Here comes the wine!

This is the itinerary that we chose, starting from the Maruna of Portorosa… first stop tomorrow, the island of Vulcano.
