Leaving Newport and heading for Martha’s Vineyard.
Apparently, there has been a large storm offshore churning the waters around us. The picture below, taken from our chart plotter, shows that winds at the center of the storm are as high as 45 knots….but the winds that affect us most at the outer bands are still clocking in at 30+ knots! The ride is VERY uncomfortable and ocean waves are 5′ to 6′ and very close to each other. Suffice it to say, I was NOT a happy camper!

The seagulls didn’t seem to have an issue with winds or stepped seas….they were in the middle of a feeding frenzy and didn’t notice what was happening around them!

By the time we got to Edgartown on the Vineyard, the winds were settled enough that we could pick up a mooring without too much maneuvering.

We decided to reward ourselves with a lovely dinner at a restaurant overlooking the harbor at sunset.
