Leaving Chesapeake City at 7:30 this morning proved to be a challenge. Firstly, Claudio had to get into the engine compartment and change a part. Subsequently, we stopped at the marina across the way for fuel….but the dockmaster decided to sleep in today and, instead of opening at 8:00 a.m. as usual, he opened at 9:00 a.m.! Suffice it to sayt hat we got a late start.

Lasciare Chesapeake City alle 7:30 questa mattina si è rivelata una sfida. Per prima cosa Claudio è dovuto entrare nel vano motore e cambiare un pezzo. Successivamente, ci siamo fermati al marina dall’altra parte del canale per fare rifornimento… ma il responsabile del marina ha deciso di dormire fino a tardi e, invece di aprire alle 8:00 come al solito, ha aperto alle 9:00! Siamo partiti con grande ritardo.

We traveled along the C & D Canal on our way to Delaware Bay.

Abbiamo viaggiato lungo il canale C & D diretti a Delaware Bay.

This connector waterway between the Chesapeake and the Delaware Bay is one of the busiest in the nation with both cruising vessels and commercial traffic. Once out of the canal, the Delaware Bay opens up in front of you and, as you cruise, the many great commercial ships are a sight to see!

Questo corso d’acqua collega il Chesapeake e Delaware Bay ed è uno dei più trafficati della nazione per il traffico commerciale. Una volta fuori dal canale, la Delaware Bay si apre davanti a te e, mentre navighi, le tante grandi navi commerciali sono uno spettacolo da vedere!

Because of the delay in leaving the dock this morning, we originally decided to anchor on the Cohansey River in the Delaware Bay. But we made such good time, that we made a run to Cape May, New Jersey.

A causa del ritardo nel lasciare il molo questa mattina, inizialmente abbiamo deciso di ancorare sul fiume Cohansey nella baia di Delaware. Ma con la corrente ed il vento a favore, abbiamo cambiato idea e ci siamo indirizzato verso Cape May, New Jersey.
