It’s Memorial Day and it feels like the entire boating community has come out today!

Oggi e` festa nazionale e un lungo ponte, Memorial Day… e sembra che l’intera comunità nautica sia uscita oggi!

Today the skies seem to be finally clearing!

Oggi i cieli sembrano finalmente schiarirsi

It seems like the top of every red marker we pass has an osprey nest on it…with screaming, hungry chicks!

Sembra quasi che ogni meda rossa che oltrepassiamo abbia un nido di falco pescatore… con pulcini che strillano affamati!

We decided to pull into Beaufort, NC and take a slip at the town dock.

Abbiamo deciso di entrare a Beaufort, Carolina del Nord e prendere un posto barca nella marina comunale.

When you come into Beaufort Town Dock, they hand you two button-shaped corks. If you take those to the dock bar, they give you two free beers or two free glasses of wine! We still had two from the previous visit to Beaufort (while heading South) which we never used. They were so cute, I left them on the nav station and forgot about them. I showed the dockmaster the original two I had onboard….he told me to keep them. He said they never expire. He told me that people have shown up with them 20 years later to claim their free beer!

Quando entri a Beaufort Town Dock, ti regalano due bottoni di sughero. Se li porti al pub del molo, ti danno due birre oppure due bicchieri di vino gratis! Ne avevamo ancora due dalla precedente visita a Beaufort (mentre ci dirigevamo a sud) che non abbiamo mai usato. Erano così carini, li ho lasciati sulla stazione di navigazione e me ne sono dimenticata. Ho mostrato al comandante del porto i due originali bottoni di sugheroche che avevo a bordo… mi ha detto di tenerli. Ha detto che non scadono mai. Mi ha detto che hanno avuto persone che si sono presentate dopo 20 anni per reclamare la loro birra gratis!

We had a very nice mexican dinner in town.

Abbiamo mangiato un’ottima cena messicana in paese.
