This morning we returned the rental car to Enterprise. The office is only about 5 miles from the marina, but it takes over 30 minutes to get there because the speed limit on St. James Plantation is between 15 mph and 20 mph! There are private police sitting by the road waiting to nab you….and even 2 mph above the speed limit (I was told) would result in a speeding fine of $300!!!!
But when you pay attention to the surroundings, you understand why they post such a speed limit:
Questa mattina abbiamo restituito l’auto a noleggio. L’ufficio dista solo circa 8 km dal marina ma ci vogliono più di 30 minuti per arrivarci perché il limite di velocità a St. James Plantation è compreso tra 25 km e 30 km! Ci sono poliziotti pagati dalla comunita` seduti al ciglio della strada in attesa di prenderti… e anche 2 km sopra il limite di velocità (mi è stato detto) comporterebbe una multa per eccesso di velocità di $300!!!!
Ma quando presti attenzione all’ambiente circostante, capisci perché pubblicano un tale limite di velocità:
Do you see why 20 is the speed limit? Everyone and everything is busy crossing the roads!!
Capisci perché c`e` un limite di velocità cosi` basso? Tutto e tutti sembrano impegnati ad attraversare la strada in ogni momento!!!
And this is how we spent the rest of Saturday, all day and all night!
Ed è così che abbiamo passato il resto del sabato, tutto il giorno e tutta la notte!
