Floriana

Today’s travels were EXCRUCIATINGLY SLOW!!!!!! All the elements were against us, and it took much longer than anticipated to get to Georgetown. You can hear the frustration in my voice on the below video.

Il viaggi di oggi e` stato ESTREMAMENTE LENTO!!!!!! La corrente e il vento erano entrambi sul naso e contrarie. Di consequenza ci abbiamo impiegato molto più tempo del previsto per arrivare a Georgetown. Notate la frustrazione nella mia voce nel video sottostante.

Even Wolfie kept asking, “Are we there yet?”

Anche Wolfie chiedeva quando saremo arroivati!!!

Finally, in the late afternoon, Floriana pulled into Georgetown Harbor.

Finalmente, nel tardo pomeriggio, la Floriana entro` nel porto di Georgetown.

First we passed a large fleet of shrimp boats.

Prima abbiamo passato una grande flotta di pescherecci specializzati nella pesca del gambero.

Then we passed this boat…not sure what it is or why it’s there but she sure is curious looking!

Poi abbiamo superato questa barca…è proprio curiosa!

We proceeded up the harbor and anchored by an old paper mill

Abbiamo trovato un ancoraggio davanti una vecchia cartiera.

Since we had gotten to Georgetown later than expected, we wasted no time in going ashore to explore this quaint, little town. We encountered this sign first…

Dato che eravamo arrivati a Georgetown più tardi del previsto, non abbiamo perso tempo a scendere a terra per esplorare questa pittoresca cittadina. ci siamo fermati a leggere questo primo cartellone….

Then we encountered this rather unsettling sign!

Pochi passi piu giu ci siamo trovati davanti questo cartellone piuttosto inquietante!

I’m not sure whether it was because we arrived on a Monday and only one restaurant was opened, or whether it was because I was tired and cranky from a long, slow day at sea….but the food was not good and the wine was worse!

Non sono sicuro se sia stato che siamo arrivati di lunedì e c’era solo un ristorante aperto, o perché ero stanco e irritabta dopo una lunga e lenta giornata in mare… ma il cibo non era buono e il vino era peggio!

But the sunset was beautiful and it made it all better. “Sunset Over the Papermill”…..sounds like a nice song title!

In ogni caso, il tramonto dietro la vecchia cartiera era bello e ilassante!!
