The words, ‘low tide’, take on a whole new meaning in Georgia!

Le parole “bassa marea” assumono un significato completamente nuovo in Georgia!

The tide range in Georgia can vary 9′ especially during NEGATIVE TIDE. I had never even heard of Negative Tide until I got to Savannah! When low tide is expressed as a negative, it means the tide will fall below whatever the recorded Mean Low Tide is on the Chart Datum.

La marea in Georgia può variare di oltre 3 mt specialmente durante la MAREA NEGATIVA. Non avevo mai nemmeno sentito parlare di MAREA NEGATIVA fino a quando non sono arrivato a Savannah! Quando la bassa marea è espressa come negativa, significa che la marea scenderà al di sotto di qualunque sia la media bassa marea registrata sul Chart Datum.

This is the actual depth recorded while passing a set of charted buoys!

And because we were so closely monitoring the water depth and the bridge heights, we took a wrong turn off the ICW!!

But we did make it to the Savannah Bend Marina, directly in front of the Hinckley Yachts. Saw a lot of pretty boats that day.
