Floriana

From Peck Lake, it was only 24 miles to Lake Worth. However, because we had to time six opening bridges, the ride was slow. The bridgeshad different protocols; some would open on demand, some would open every half hour and hour, some opened every 15 minutes and 45 minutes, some wanted to know all your information and still others couldn’t be bothered. And there was tremendous traffic on the water! Boats everywhere…small powerboats, large sports fishing boats, sailboats and pontoons. Coming down the ICW on a Saturday, especially on Thanksgiving Day weekend, was like driving on the Long Island Expressway at rush hour, on a Friday afternoon heading to the Hamptons….it’s a veritable nightmare!

Le ultime 24 miglia che ci dividono dalla nostra meta finale sono stati alquanto impegnativi. Il tratto di mare era molto trafficato da imbarcazioni di ogni tipo, da piccoli motoscafi a grandi yachts. Inoltre a peggiorare il fatto abbiamo dovuto superare ben sei ponti levatoi che aprono secondo orari prestabiliti.

Once we passed the last bridge, we turned to port onto Lake Worth. Several sailboats, that were traveling ahead of us on the ICW, also came into Lake Worth to anchor.

Superato l’ultimo ponte ci diriggiamo verso Lake Worth e finalmente raggiungiamo il nostro molo dove la Floriana ormeggera’ fino alla prossima primavera.

The homecoming was made sweeter by my brother Max and his beautiful family that greeted us at the dock with a nice bottle of wine to celebrate!

Tutto l’evento e’ stato allietato dall’incontro con Max mio fratello, che ci aspettava sul molo con tutta la sua bellissima famiglia, regalandoci un’ottima bottiglia di vino per celebrare!
