Today’s weather is about the same as yesterday with visibility being poor. However, much to my delight, I FINALLY captured an image of a dolphin….something I’ve been trying to accomplish for the last 800 miles! Sorry for squealing but I was very excited!

Il tempo di oggi è più o meno lo stesso di ieri con scarsa visibilità. Tuttavia, con mia grande gioia, ho FINALMENTE catturato un’immagine di un delfino…. qualcosa che ho cercato di realizzare nelle ultime 800 miglia! Perdonate il mio grido di gioia ma ero molto contenta della ripresa!

As we entered Mosquito Lagoon, a manatee protected area, winds began to pick up along with following seas….then what seemed like another kind-of-boring-day turned exciting, but for the wrong reasons! The charts show a deviation into a narrow passage which would be well marked. What we saw instead was just amazing….NARROW was an understatement and there were no markers at the entrance….just lots of rocks with pelicans on them! Claudio hesitated a moment and severely reduced the speed of the boat, just enough time to recheck the charts and verify we were headed in the right direction. We were….but it didn’t seem like it!

Quando siamo entrati in Mosquito Lagoon, un’area che protegge i lamantini, i venti hanno rinforzato…. e quella che sembrava un’altra giornata di routine si è trasformata in momenti di eccitazione ma per le ragioni sbagliate! Le cartine nautiche mostrano una deviazione in un passaggio stretto che sarebbe ben segnalato. Quello che abbiamo visto invece è stato tutt’altro…. dire che l’entrata fosse stretta e’ un eufemismo, e non c’erano boe che segnalavano il passaggio ma bensi’ scogli sulla nostra dritta con decine di pellicani appollaiati sopra. Claudio esitò un attimo e ridusse la velocità della barca, giusto il tempo necessario per ricontrollare le cartine nautiche e verificare che stessimo andando nella giusta direzione. Era giusta…. ma visivamente destava alcuni dubbi!

We anchored at Cocoa Beach by the bridge for the night. I took full advantage to start cooking for Thanksgiving….just because we’re on a boat doesn’t mean I don’t do Thanksgiving!

Abiamo ancorato a Cocoa Beach per la notte. Ho approfittato per iniziare a cucinare per la Festa del Ringraziamento
