We left the Wahoo River on an ebb tide, and after a quarter mile or so, we lost sight of any aids to navigation. Even the Aquamap app showed that no buoys would guide us into the ICW tract through the marshes.

Abbiamo lasciato il fiume Wahoo con una marea di riflusso, e dopo circa un quarto di miglio, ci ritroviamo in un dedalo molto confusionario dove non si riusciva a capire dove fosse il trac giusto per continuare sul icw. Anche l’app Aquamap ha mostrato che nessuna boa ci avrebbe guidato nel tratto ICW attraverso le paludi.

After reducing our speed just enough to keep steerage, we went back to doing it the old-fashioned way and consulted the paper charts. The charts help us find and confirm the narrow passage needed to take.

Dopo aver ridotto la nostra velocità quel tanto che bastava per mantenere la barca in controllo, siamo tornati a navigare alla vecchia maniera consultatando le cartine nautiche. A quel punto abbiamo appurato che effettivamente il passaggio era dove prima sembrava incerto.

Further down the ICW, we had the pleasure of picking up a favorable current that allowed us to travel at an unheard of 8.1 knots!

Proseguendo piu’ a sud sul ICW, abiamo avuto il piacere di usufruire di una corrente favorevole che ci ha permesso di viaggiare ad una inaspettata velocita’ di 8,1 nodi!

We stopped at Jekyll Island Marina for the night to accomplish all the usual chores…boat cleaning, laundry and provisioning.

Ci siamo fermati a Jekyll Island Marina per la notte per svolgere tutte le solite faccende. . . pulizia della barca, lavanderia e approvvigionamento.

Jekyll Island Marina is a lovely little marina with all the facilities required by boaters, and with the added plus of having an on-premise restaurant, a pool and a hot tub!

Jekyll Island Marina è un delizioso porticciolo con tutti i servizi richiesti dai diportisti e con l’ulteriore vantaggio di avere un ristorante in loco, una piscina e una vasca idromassaggio!

Once all the cleaning and shopping was done, we treated ourselves to dinner at the marina restaurant….the evening view was very pretty.

Una volta che tutte le pulizie e lo shopping sono stati fatti, ci siamo concessi la cena al ristorante del marina…. La vista dal ristorante era molto carina.
