We woke up to a gorgeous, sun-filled day…but the temperature was barely 55 degrees and it felt cold compared to yesterday’s muggy, 70-degree weather. And the wind was still blowing up to almost 30 knots creating little white caps on the Edisto River.

Ci siamo svegliati in una splendida giornata piena di sole. . . Ma la temperatura era di appena 55 gradi (12 gradi Celsius), un grande sbalzo termico che ieri era 70 gradi (22 gradi Celsius).

The trip to Beaufort was tricky and it followed a circuitous route.

La tratta per Beaufort e’ stata complicata per via del percorso serpeggiante.

Notice the distance between these two buoys…maybe 50 feet apart…almost ridiculous!

Notate la distanza tra queste due boe… forse 15 metri distanti tra di loro. Considerando che ci sono banchi di sabbia a destra e sinistra delle boe il passaggio dev’essere rispettato per non andare in secca. Questi tratti di mare, per via delle frequenti tempeste, sono soggetti a insabbiamenti repentini per cui i passaggi possono variare frequentemente.

The coastline of South Carolina is affected by tidal ranges that can exceed seven feet generating strong currents. These need to be addressed docking at a marina.

Il tratto lungo la costa del Sud Carolina e’ interessato da escurzioni di marea che possono superare anche i due metri generando correnti importanti. Da tener conto al momento del ormeggio in porto.

We arrived at Safe Harbor Beaufort Marina at midafternoon and found that there was a lot of sunbathing going on! LOL!

Siamo arrivati a Safe Harbor Beaufort Marina a metà pomeriggio e abbiamo trovato questi spassosi vicini di barca!
