During the night, winds were relentless, and gusts were strong. In the morning clouds were grey and winds were still blowing hard. I walked to the main dock where I saw people watching the dolphins feed and the pelicans fly overhead.

Durante la notte, i venti erano implacabili e le raffiche erano forti. Al mattino le nuvole erano grigie e il vento soffiava ancora forte. Ho camminato fino al molo principale dove ho visto persone che guardavano i delfini nutrirsi e i pellicani volare sopra la testa.

Forecasts predicted that today would be the best of the next few days ahead…so we took the shuttle to Charleston town center. I’m so glad I did. The walk through the historic district took my mind off the nor’easter for a while. We strolled through a windy city, past the Market area and all the way down to Battery Park.

Le previsioni prevedevano che oggi sarebbe stato il migliore dei prossimi giorni… così abbiamo preso la navetta e siamo andati al centro di Charleston. Sono così felice di averlo fatto. La passeggiata attraverso il quartiere storico mi ha distratta per qualche ora dal problema dei venti. Abbiamo passeggiato la città, a volte anche contro vento, oltre l’area del mercato e fino alla zone del parco.

What I love the most about Charleston is its architecture with exceptionally beautiful period homes kept as authentic as possible. Especially if you take the side streets, you are never bored with the homes you pass or the gardens you see if you peek through the old wrought iron gates.

Ciò che amo di più di Charleston è la sua architettura, con case d’epoca eccezionalmente belle mantenute il più autentiche possibile. Soprattutto quando si passeggia nelle strade secondarie, non ci si annoia mai particolarmente quando si sbircia attraverso i vecchi cancelli in ferro battuto e si scoprano giardini curatissimi.
