We departed Oriental after a hardy breakfast and crossed the Neuse River and entered Adams Creek. This narrow stretch of the ICW was lined with beautiful homes whose view was of the water and the nature preserve beyond.

Siamo partiti da Oriental dopo una robusta colazione e abbiamo attraversato il fiume Neuse entrando in Adams Creek. Questo stretto tratto dell’ICW era fiancheggiato da belle case la cui vista era sull’acqua e una riserva naturale.

Our next destination was Beaufort, NC where we would spend the night at the Beaufort Town Docks. The approach to the Taylor Creek, a deviation of the ICW, was filled with buoys in all directions….we thought it was a little confusing. And the nautical charts agreed with us! Imagine seeing this on your plotter!

La nostra prossima destinazione era Beaufort, NC, dove avremmo trascorso la notte al porto della cittadina di Beaufort. L’avvicinamento al Taylor Creek, una deviazione dell’ICW, era un dedalo di boe che segnalavano diversi canali…. eravamo in allerta per via della confusione. E le carte nautiche confermavano il nostro timore!

And unfortunately, this could be the result of a confusing series of buoy markers!

There are many marinas in Beaufort, and prices can vary wildly…from $2.00 to $3.15 a foot! The town of Beaufort in N. Carolina is a pretty place, and the people are very nice.

Ci sono una varieta` di marina a Beaufort, ma i prezzi possono variare notevolmente… da $2.00 a $3.15 al piede!

The Beaufort Docks provided us with a loaner car so we could go to Food Lion and buy groceries. We spent the afternoon putting away food, cleaning the inside of the boat and washing down the outside of the boat. By early evening, we were exhausted!

We found a little restaurant that made brick oven pizza right on the boardwalk…so we ate there and spent an hour watching the sun going down while we enjoyed our anchovy margherita.

I Beaufort Docks ci ha meeso a disposizione una macchina per poter fare spese al supermercato che distava circa 2 miglia dal marina. Abbiamo trascorso il resto del pomeriggio rifornendo la gambusa e facendo una pulizia generale della barca.

Sul lungomare del marina troviamo un delizioso ristorante che offriva pizze cotte al forno a legna . . Così abbiamo deciso di cenare li, e contemplare il tramontare del sole mentre gustavamo dell’ottima pizza con le acciughe.
