The first half of the 45-mile journey from Fishing Bay in Deltaville to Salt Pond Marina in Hampton (both in Virginia) was as nasty as it could be. Over 25 knots of southerly wind on the nose churned the waters and made the ride uncomfortable, to say the least. On the other hand, once the wind became more westerly, we were able to sail comfortably and enjoy the ride.

La prima metà del viaggio di 45 miglia da Fishing Bay in Deltaville a Salt Pond Marina in Hampton (entrambi in Virginia) è stata difficoltosa a dire poco. It was decided we would spend the night at the Salt Pond Marina Resort in Hampton, Virginia. The entrance to the marina was narrow, with great big houses lining its shoreline.

Salt Pond is a snug marina, long and narrow. and it is extremely crowded. We needed help getting into our slip which was wedged between a sailboat to our Port and a large catamaran at 90 degrees to our starboard! It was a very tight squeeze, and I was grateful for the deck hands that guided us in.

Salt Pond Marina e` un piccolo, lungo e stretto cabnale che accomoda piccole barche ed è estremamente affollato. Il molo che ci avevano assegnato era incastrato tra una grande catamarano che offriva la poppa alla nostra fiancata di dritta e alla nostra sinistra un’altra barca a vela. Riusciamo ad infilarci per pochi centimetri.
