After a tranquil night at the Cohansey River, we pulled up the anchor at 7:30 in the morning and made our way back towards the commercial shipping lines. We were headed to the C & D Canal that would lead us out of the Delaware Bay and into the Chesapeake Bay, and into the state of Maryland.

Dopo una notte tranquilla passata alla foce del fiume Cohansey, abbiamo salpato l’ancora alle 7:30 del mattino e ci siamo diretti verso il canale commerciale principale. Ci dirigevamo all’imbocco del canale C & D che unisce la baia del Delaware con la baia del Chesapeake, dove inizia lo stato di Maryland.

While we had plenty of time to navigate through the C & D canal and enter into the Chesapeake to anchor for the night, we couldn’t resist stopping in Chesapeake City. It’s a lovely little town with a small but picturesque anchorage that offers great holding and great restaurants!

Mentre avevamo tutto il tempo per navigare attraverso il canale C & D e entrare nella baia di Chesapeake per ancorare per la notte, non abbiamo resistito all’idea di fermarsi a Chesapeake City. È una graziosa cittadina con un piccolo ma pittoresco ancoraggio che offre un’ottima tenuta e ottimi ristoranti!

At the anchorage. we met many Canadian boats that were also heading south. We met retirees, families with small children, and single handers … all very nice and in great spirits. We even met a sailor on a trimaran, called the Sailing Piano, that is a musician and had an actual piano on board the boat! He even played his accordion for us. It was fun to socialize with everyone.

All’ancoraggio. abbiamo incontrato molte barche canadesi che si dirigono anche loro a sud. Abbiamo incontrato pensionati, famiglie con bambini piccoli e navigatori solitari … tutti molto gentili e di ottimo umore. Abbiamo anche incontrato un marinaio su un trimarano di nome “Sailing Piano” . Lui è di professioneun musicista e ha un pianoforte verticale a bordo della barca! Ci ha anche intrattenuto con la sua fisarmonica. E` stato divertente socializzare con tutti.

We spent a very nice early evening at the Bayard House restaurant watching small boats and large ships go by.

Abbiamo trascorso una bella serata al ristorante Bayard House guardando piccole barche e grandi navi transitare per il C & D canal..
